Sport Overview
Halstead St Andrew’s fosters a spirit of individual and team competition for every pupil within the school. Each pupil is given the opportunity to participate through our sport for all policy in a wide range of sporting activities during a full daily schedule of PE, games and after school activities.
The school is very proud of its sporting ethos and regularly produces highly successful school teams as well as individuals at all levels in all sports. Physical Education is taught by experienced staff throughout the school. Pupils take part in over 4 hours of activity over the course of a school week, whether PE, games or competition. In addition the senior school participates in an extensive all year round sports programme.
During the Autumn and Spring terms, the main sports for boys are football & rugby, and hockey is taught in the Spring term. For the girls, netball & hockey is taught through the Autumn and Spring term. The Summer term encompasses many different sports including cricket for boys and girls. Also on offer during the summer is athletics, swimming and tennis.
The sporting experience at Halstead St Andrew’s is also enhanced by high level coaching. We also have a competitive inter-House sports programme every term. In Years 7&8, we also offer an enhanced games experience in such sports as golf, high ropes and trampolining. Although individuals are encouraged to be competitive, it is stressed that good conduct and sportsmanship are equally valued.
