Swap Shop
What is Swap Shop
Swap Shop is HSA’s second-hand uniform shop. It is run by parent volunteers. It is part of Friends of Halstead St Andrew’s (FOHSA), meaning that its proceeds all go towards initiatives that enhance the children’s educational experience. Find out more about FOHSA here.
Using Swap Shop
Swap Shop is open every Friday morning from 8am to 9am and is located in the stable block at Church Hill House (ask at reception for directions). If you cannot make that time, email us and we will do our best to arrange an alternative. We also hold ad hoc sales which are announced in the school’s calendar and newsletters.
We are currently in the early days of building up a second-hand stock of the HSA uniform. We sell second-hand items for approximately 50% of the retail price of a new item.
Swap Shop is still selling the old St Andrew’s PE kit, which can be used for the rest of the 2024/25 academic year. Year 8s can also purchase the old St Andrew’s grey jumpers and green blazers.
We have brand new HSA ties and sports socks for sale at the full retail price.
Swap Shop also carries samples of several key pieces of uniform in the full range of sizes so that parents can check sizing before ordering new items from School Blazer.
Putting items into Swap Shop
You can donate your uniform at any time. Please either bring it to Swap Shop on Friday morning or leave the bags at Church Hill House reception.
- Please make sure all items are clean and in good condition.
- Please ensure all name labels have been removed.
- Please ensure items are the current school uniform.
Any clothing which is unable to be sold will be recycled or given to charity.
You may either donate your items in full, with all proceeds going to the benefit of the school, or receive 50% of the proceeds of the sale.
To receive 50% from the proceeds:
- The first time you donate, complete the form in the document links below and email it to swapshop@friendsofhsa.com. This is necessary even if you filled out an old St Andrew’s form.
- Label your items using the labels which can be found in the document link below.
- As a general guide, good quality items will be sold at approximately 50% of the retail price. You will then receive 50% of this.
- Payments are made electronically by bank transfer once the balance of any items sold reaches a minimum level.
- We will hold and display your items for at least one year. Thereafter, the items will be removed and given to relevant charities, good causes or recycled.
